Public Hearing Tuesday:
HB269 Will Increase
Homelessness and Costs
HB269 would allow private landlords to collect both first and last month’s rent, plus security deposit of up to one additional month’s rent from prospective tenants. A public hearing will be held:
Tuesday, January 27
House Judiciary Committee
Room 208, Legislative Office Building
Under current NH law, landlords may charge one month’s rent, plus security deposit of up to one month’s rent. HB269 would therefore increase the upfront costs to access a rental home, making it more difficult for many families to find housing. (Click for more information)
